3 years ago I almost slipped into a coma and died. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.

I paid $684 for my first 30-day supply of insulin. Some pay $1000+ a month. Many die without it.

Today I introduced legislation to cap the price of insulin at $50 a month. #txlege

@rebecaulfield The deanery will place you in a job for the 6/12 after the end of your training programme. The Grace period is on the reg rota. You can resign from it when you accept a cons job (3/12 notice period usually).

@DocAnthonyT If the history sounds like diabetes, call the local paediatric reg and let them see the child. No paediatrician wants to subsequently see a child in DKA that could have been avoided.

You get diagnosed with #T1Diabetes

Step 1: #CGM (Dexcom/Libre etc) and Multiple Dose Insulin

If that doesn't work?

Step 2: #ClosedLoops

That's the vision for the #NHS - irrespective of age, sex, colour or deprivation

@Clarinetchris @DebbieHicksNCD @T1Bionic It's a bit of a blur, blue generally meant no sugar in the sample (equivalent to less than 10 mmol/L), I'm not sure what the other colours were equal to. Red was generally considered bad in clinic!
