I used to get such a buzz on match day; the butterflies, the anticipation, seeing mates, meeting new people, getting inside Old Trafford, watching the players walk out of the tunnel onto the pitch, and looking around in awe at everything.

After the clubs attack on loyal supporters over the last 6 weeks, today feels very different.

Don't get me wrong, I'll get behind Carrick, his team and the players. I'll support everything that is right about Manchester United, the Football Club. That will never change.

But why does it feel so different?

Because Manchester United, the business, no longer seems to want me, my mates, or the supporters who have given so much.

It feels like they're slowly draining the life and soul out of everything that made Manchester United one of the most famous football clubs in the world.

Manchester United still wants to be the known as the biggest and most famous club in the world, they just seem to want to do it without people like me & you supporting them, that helped give them that title in the first place.

UEFA and Concacaf just rejected Gianni Infantino's World Cup sell-off plan, 96 associations in 48 hours. The plan is probably dead. I think him losing his job is next.

Start with what happened this week. Tuesday, FIFA announces the Forward Enterprise: a $20 billion valuation, a $4.2 billion raise, the World Cup's commercial rights moved into a company investors can buy. Thursday, all 55 UEFA members approve a boycott of FIFA competitions. Hours later, Concacaf's 41 members formally reject the proposal and instruct their Council members to remind the FIFA President, in writing, that matters must follow proper governance processes via staff and FIFA Council, in accordance with the FIFA Statutes.

Read that Concacaf language again. That is not a policy disagreement. That is a governance rebuke. They are telling him, on paper, that he tried to go around the institution he runs.

Now the math. FIFA has 211 member associations. The September 19 vote needs a majority, 106. UEFA and Concacaf control 96. If those 96 hold, Infantino needs 106 of the remaining 115, a 92 percent hit rate among everyone else, with the reported $40 million offer as his only tool and the entire European and North American football establishment campaigning against him. The plan is arithmetically alive and practically dead.

Here is why it does not end there.

Infantino stands for reelection next year. The electorate is the same 211 associations. He has now given 96 of them a reason that did not exist last week, and it is the worst kind of reason an incumbent can hand an opponent: not a scandal, not a rivalry, but proof of what he would do with another term. He told them exactly what the plan is. The plan is to move their tournament into a company.

And he did it after the warning. In 2018 he brought his Council a $25 billion offer from investors he refused to name, citing an NDA he had signed personally. The Council rejected it. The lesson available was that the membership does not want the World Cup financialized. The lesson he took was to build a structure that routes around the Council and offer the membership money directly. That is not a misstep. That is a pattern, and 96 associations just said so in public.

The counterargument is real. FIFA presidents are historically unremovable, the incumbent controls development money, and the 115 associations outside Europe and North America have carried him before. Blatter survived everything except the FBI.

But no sitting FIFA president has ever gone into an election with the two confederations that produce and host the sport's value openly organized against a plan bearing his name, while that plan is still on the table, with a boycott attached. Blatter's opposition was scattered and reactive. This one has a date, a vote, and 96 signatures.

The safest prediction is not that Infantino loses an election. It is that he never faces this one holding the plan. FFE gets shelved, or delayed into vapor, sometime before September 19, and the retreat gets dressed up as consultation. If it does not, if he takes this to a vote and loses it, then the election stops being a coronation for the first time in FIFA's modern history, because someone will stand, and they will run on one sentence: he tried to sell the World Cup.

He was reelected by acclamation last time. Nobody even ran.

The distance between acclamation and opposition is 96 votes, and he covered it in two days.
