Umaruku women group in Lodonga Sub-County, Yumbe District display their watermelon fruit with beaming smiles and pride.
To the them, it is more than excitement, it’s a result of curiosity, determination and learning.
While some members of the group initially believed that watermelon was simply another variety of pumpkin, our technical training and support helped them discover that watermelon is not only a fruit, but a high-value crop that can generate significant income in just one production cycle when properly managed.
Empowerment begins with access to the right knowledge and resources.

When farming is done right like using quality seedlings, good agronomic practices like pruning, mulching, pest management, and proper post-harvest handling. Coffee farming truly pays in Uganda. Many farmers achieve high yields.
Contours are essential in coffee plantations: they slow runoff, prevent soil erosion, retain rainwater, and preserve nutrients during heavy rainy seasons boosting yields and sustainability. Embrace them now!
Our coffee mother garden has the ten KR series. KR is short for Kituuza Robusta. These varieties are coffee wilt tolerant. They are lowland varieties that mature within one and a half years

We recently visited Betty's farm in Chongjok, Kichwabugingo Sub County, Kiryandongo District, and supported her team to prepare a planting medium for their upcoming vegetable production in a greenhouse.
One may ask ,but why is the planting medium so crucial?
A well-balanced medium supports strong root development, better nutrient absorption and healthier plants.
Powerful materials used for planting medium preparation;
✅ Compost – Provides essential nutrients for healthy root development.
✅ Biochar – improves soil structure and water retention.
✅ Perlite/Gravels – Boosts drainage and aeration for root health.
✅ Bio Cure B – Boosts beneficial microbial and plant immunity.
Here's how mixture was done ✔️
🌱Layering compost, biochar, and perlite in the perfect proportions (3:1:1)
🌱Adding Bio Cure B to each layer to promote soil health.
🌱Thoroughly Mixing all components for a uniform consistency.
🌱 Potting to ensure strong seedling establishment
With the well prepared planting medium,Betty is now set to grow high-quality vegetables in the greenhouse.
Are you planning a greenhouse or need the right inputs for your farm?
