The Farage ‘plan’ depends on
1 despotic regimes voluntarily taking people back
2 a deal with eg Afghanistan
3 persuading communities to take 12-24,000-people detention centres
4 Ascension Island
5 an ADDITIONAL £10bn
It makes mockery of a serious problem.
Ed Davey mentioned Brexit contributing to small boat arrivals today
Context: Pre-Brexit the UK was a part of a returns arrangement with the EU - so very few/no small boat arrivals
That was not included in the Brexit deal, so once we left the EU, small boat crossings went up
Teachers across Esher and Walton tell me that misogyny is rising in classrooms and playgrounds. So is the exposure to children of online pornography.
That’s why Nigel Farage and Reform’s call to scrap the Online Safety Act are wrong - and dangerous. The act is a landmark step that ends the digital “Wild West” and makes the UK a global leader in online regulation. It’s a step towards protecting children from harmful content and holds tech giants accountable.
Ofcom must now go further in implementing it.
Here’s me talking about it on @TimesRadio :
@LibDems
🗣️ "Nigel Farage should’ve apologised today.”
Lib Dem leader Sir Ed Davey criticises Farage’s plan to leave the European Convention on Human Rights as part of his illegal immigration strategy. 🇬🇧

As we've seen across history, the populist playbook used by Farage is ugly, powerful and incredibly destructive.
We know where it will lead if we don't stop it.
NB The Farage who says he fears a “genuine threat to public order” is the same Farage who is doing all he can to whip up exactly that. He’s already wrecked our economy with Brexit - allowing him to do the same with the human rights which protect *all* of us would be unforgivable
You heard it here first - Nigel Farage's party want to move the NHS to an insurance-based system.
That would mean you would pay £10,958 for an appendix removal.
Donald Trump has brought an utterly chaotic, scattergun approach to world affairs. Two weeks ago, his attention was on getting a ceasefire in Ukraine before Easter. That’s now almost forgotten, as a result of the worldwide tariffs he’s introduced. Putin must be overjoyed.
@parcelforce Your service is an utter disgrace!
Three failed deliveries due to your own issues yet your call centre is unwilling to help beyond just rebooking! Have been waiting since 24th March now! Pathetic awful customer service!

Here’s an idea. We have a separate news program called something like “ what’s the Orange Spunk Monkey done today!” And then we have another news for all the other stuff so we can separate the racist nonsense from all the other stuff!
@LBC Opening the borders to free trade is a great idea to help increase growth in the UK.
It certainly helps so many companies like mine to be able to move freely again like we used too.
