Python is great for prototyping and medium sized projects. And you can definitely create multi million/billion dollar businesses with it. Lack of comprehensive typing in ecosystem is not the most pleasant though.
With all these Three.js demos popping up, there feels like a real opportunity for Steam—or someone—to build an Imgur for web games. Self-host the game, submit the URL, get a shareable link. Not much to host. Discovery + sharing at essentially zero hosting cost.
@Lentils80 Looks like this will be a fantastic release and I’m very excited to try it out. Disappointing the model is still just creating with primitives (box, rectangle, cylinder, etc), no vertex/edge manipulation or generation. Maybe once AI is generating its own architectures…
Reddit user K3sra is creating a multiplayer mod for Halo Campaign Evolved! Here’s what they say: “Red vs Blue, 10 player slots, invites, server browser, etc. The end of this clip was just a test + to prove that the game can actually launch to a map session. Still early stages of developing this mod, it doesn't look like it will take too long.” #Halo
@thsottiaux It’s hard to come up with feedback. The one straw I’ve grasped at is I wish that model picking was easier. I tend to jump between a 3-4 model + intelligence selections (eg luna low, terra medium, sol high).
Created a set of AI animations. Definitely not even “good mod team” level but passable. Here’s the site if you want to check it out:

Many cool ThreeJS projects to do grass, lighting, gameplay systems, etc. Will be fun to see an eventual integration project (and being able to optimize perf per frame with arbitrary features turned on and off). My guess is this is gonna be one of the next Indie Dev frontiers.
I bet if there was a community competition facilitated by Xbox to make a vertical slice in the Halo universe, people would get excited and fresh ideas would emerge.
@davepl1968 I agree with most of the spirit of what you’re saying. That said, first week or two of my new job, I essentially had the AI answer every question that occurred to me and save ones that were hard to answer for people. Some of this might be changing.
Man, Twitter’s hardcore rage baiting me with folks complaining that UE6 is coming out before UE5 has been juiced completely. UE6 combines UEFN and UE5, plus adds Verse to remove the decades long bottleneck of 100 max player servers.
@MisterPXL Why do we need to? From the talks that Epic has given themselves, Epic has been vending two major versions of engines. One for Fortnite (UEFN) and UE5. UE6 makes it so they can serve both with one.
@davepl1968@washghost1 I don’t completely disagree with this but would be hard to implement practically in policy. I’m not sure most people would vote yes to “If you didn’t wear a seat belt and need ICU level care, we will euthanize you”.
@thsottiaux Auto permissions don’t seem to allow network calls. Y’all don’t have to make it do that, but permissions in general are a pain. I’m not fully confident that in any mode I can walk away during a /goal, unless it’s all local.
