Researchers at MIT have captured, for the first time, the dynamic process that marks the very beginning of life: when an egg cell is fertilized, it triggers waves of activity that ripple across its membrane.
These waves act like a biochemical signal, initiating the complex sequence of events that drives the cell to start dividing and developing into an embryo.
When government seems incapable of building housing, fixing schools or balancing budgets, even sympathetic voters lose faith.
If Democrats want to rebuild that faith, they must rediscover the lost art of competence.
My take:
Just wrapped up a busy and productive week in Washington, DC.
It was an honor to meet @realDonaldTrump again — I wished him good health, wisdom in these challenging times, and shared my gratitude for keeping his word and standing behind our industry.
I also had the pleasure of meeting Vice President @JDVance. He struck me as cultured and remarkably polite, and it’s clear that he and his wife are a true power couple with a sense of purpose and vision.
Throughout the week, I had a number of productive meetings with key figures from the new administration. Two conversations in particular left a strong impression:
• @BoHines, Executive Director of the President’s Council of Advisers on Digital Assets, welcomed me at the White House for a focused and encouraging discussion. His clear understanding of the industry and its long-term impact was matched by a strong message: the new administration is serious about reversing past setbacks and making the United States the home of crypto. He outlined actionable steps already in motion, and expressed openness to dialogue and collaboration with industry leaders.
• Tyler Williams, Counselor to the Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, hosted me at the Treasury for both a memorable tour and a substantial conversation with his team. Their knowledge, engagement, and openness to feedback were impressive. Just like Director Hines, Williams and his colleagues showed a genuine commitment to shaping a forward-looking regulatory environment that encourages innovation and growth.
While these two meetings stood out, I’m grateful for all the discussions I had during the week — each one contributed to a clearer picture of the momentum building in DC.
This visit reaffirmed my belief that the new administration is well aware of the potential of our industry to benefit the country and the world, and is deeply committed to embracing and supporting it. I’m excited to continue engaging with and supporting this effort in any way I can. I’m also actively preparing to move to the U.S. to continue my entrepreneurial journey — and I know many others in our field are considering doing the same.
All that we — builders and entrepreneurs — have ever asked for is to be recognized as legitimate, and to be given the space to build toward this industry's powerful vision. It now feels like that moment has arrived. The ball is in our court — let's write history together!
Jeffrey Sachs (American economist, public policy analyst, professor at Columbia University) gives Piers Morgan a lesson on geopolitics (and the US government’s nefarious role within this). He also highlights the backstory on Ukraine. And no, he’s not a “Putin enabler”.
