The facts don’t lie: American-grown cotton represents only 4 million of 20 million bales consumed in the U.S. each year.
The Trump Administration and @SecRollins are doing right by our farmers and consumers by promoting American-grown cotton with the Great American Cotton Plan. It puts our farmers first, supports long-term sustainability for the industry, and provides the American people with safe, affordable, and natural fibers that we should be using.
Congress should immediately pass the Buying American Cotton Act to support U.S. farmers, rural communities, and American manufacturing.
14,700 bales of U.S. cotton — enough to make 3.65 million bed sheets, 10.1 million bath towels, or 18.5 million pillowcases — were sold earlier today on The Seam, the industry's most comprehensive marketplace for U.S. cotton.
12,000 bales of U.S. cotton — enough to make 2.5 million pairs of jeans or 14.6 million T-shirts — were sold earlier today on The Seam, the industry's most comprehensive marketplace for U.S. cotton.
“This legislation provides much-needed stability for our producers and helps ensure they can continue delivering high-quality American cotton to markets here and around the world.”
Thank you @RepEzell for supporting the Buying American Cotton Act and understanding the vast utility of cotton in products from clothing, medical supplies, and much more.
The U.S. consumer is the single most powerful force in the global textile market. Yet 90% of the fiber in the products they buy is primarily foreign cotton and oil-based polyester — not American grown cotton. Consumers are largely unaware. The world's largest consumer market should be the world's largest opportunity for U.S. cotton farmers. Industry leaders are working hard with congress to make the Buying American Cotton Act (BACA) a 2026 priority.

U.S. COTTON TRADING UPDATE: Over 13,000 bales in 80 recaps were sold earlier this morning on @TheSeam platform. Over 1,000 active negotiations are underway now.
@wholemars Agree...but perhaps it would have been better to save the old-school Apple-style hype for something massively innovative (vs. same cars but watered down features). But maybe we'll get "..One more thing." later this week as redemption.
@SawyerMerritt It was important for Tesla to release these models, but I don't think it was hype worthy. Got the world's attention on a couple of watered-down cars. (the hype was great BTW).
