In May 2024, VIBUK delivered a letter to Downing Street demanding reform of the Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme.
Since then, we have met with @wesstreeting and @AshleyDalton_MP, written repeatedly to ministers and officials, contributed to national media coverage, appeared on television, in articles, and given evidence to the @covidinquiryuk.

We do care who is Prime Minister and who holds the health brief, because they have the power to deliver the justice and support that those who have suffered a vaccine-injury or who have lost a loved one to a vaccine have been denied for far too long.

Governments, PMs, Ministers may change, but our determination does not. We will continue to engage, challenge, and campaign until the Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme is reformed and those harmed by vaccination are treated with the fairness, dignity, and respect they deserve.

We are not going away. The job is not done.

At the petition meeting, Rhys ab Owen stated that the issue would be best considered in other forums, including the UK Covid-19 Inquiry and The Wales COVID-19 Inquiry Special Purpose Committee.

However:

The UK Covid-19 Inquiry (Module 4) did not include the issue of treatment or care pathways for those injured by vaccines.

The Wales COVID-19 Inquiry Special Purpose Committee has since ceased.

My petition was not referred onward to any other forum and was closed with no further action.

In January 2025, @wesstreeting confirmed he had commissioned officials to review and reform the Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme (VDPS), including potential legislative changes.

Since then, the Covid Inquiry has recommended reform of the scheme. Yet @SharonHodgsonMP has indicated that the Government may not respond to those recommendations until October 2026.

In a parliamentary debate in September 2025, @EstherMcVey1 also said that "a lot of the heavy lifting has been done in the Cabinet Office and the Department of Health and Social Care." by the previous Government.

If reform work has been underway since January 2025, and substantial work had already been completed as stated by @EstherMcVey1, why are the vaccine injured and bereaved still being asked to wait?

It is now more than five years since the first Covid-19 vaccine injuries and deaths were reported. Those affected deserve action, not further delay.

How much longer are we expected to wait while Government "actively considers"?

"Actively considers" isn't action" It's delay, its an excuse for inaction. It's kicking the can down the road.......

What the vaccine injured need first, before treatment, before compensation, before the legal accountability that may eventually arrive, is something the institutional system has the capacity to provide right now and has chosen not to.

Acknowledgment.

Not the kind of acknowledgment that is calibrated to admit as little as possible while providing the appearance of institutional compassion. The kind that says, clearly and without qualification: what happened to you was real. Your body told you the truth. The pattern you identified was the pattern there was.

The doctors who dismissed you were operating inside a framework that was not built to find what you had, and the framework was built that way because the institutions responsible for building it made a decision that your visibility was too expensive.

That acknowledgment would not heal the physical injury. It would not return the years spent without a diagnosis, without treatment, without the support the injury warranted. It would not restore the careers, the relationships, the financial security that the injury and the institutional abandonment combined to destroy.

But it would do something that nothing else can do.

It would end the compound injury. The injury that sits on top of the physical harm and in many cases exceeds it in the toll it takes on the person carrying it. The injury of being told that the reality you are living is not the reality there is. Of navigating a healthcare system that has been built to not see you.

Of being positioned, in the public communication of the institutions that produced your harm, as the anxious, the credulous, the conspiracy-minded, the people whose experience is not the basis for serious institutional response.

The acknowledgment would say: you were right. The system was wrong. And we are going to do the work now, late and inadequately as it comes, to build the infrastructure that your injury required from the beginning.

No institution has said this.

Every institution with the authority to say it has made the calculation that saying it costs more than the continued silence.

The injured are paying the difference between what the silence costs the institutions and what it costs them.

It is not a small difference.
