“How Will I Know” is from Whitney Houston’s 1985 self-titled debut album. Written by George Merrill and Shannon Rubicam, the dance-pop track became Whitney's first #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also reached #2 in the UK, #1 in Canada, and the Top 10 in Australia, Ireland, Sweden and several other countries.

The song was originally intended for Janet Jackson, but after it was declined, it was offered to Whitney Houston, whose producer Narada Michael Walden reshaped it into a vibrant dance-pop track. Its colourful music video became one of MTV's most-played clips, helping introduce Houston to a younger pop audience and cementing her status as a crossover superstar. The song also helped pave the way for Whitney's unprecedented run of seven consecutive #1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100.

Did you know? "Relax" by Frankie Goes To Hollywood was banned by the BBC shortly after its release in 1983 because of its sexually suggestive lyrics. Ironically, the controversy only made the song even more popular.
Instead of disappearing from the charts, "Relax" climbed all the way to No. 1 in the UK, where it stayed for five consecutive weeks and went on to sell more than two million copies. It also became a massive international hit, including a Top 10 success in Germany, helping define the sound of 1984.
Sometimes, a ban creates a legend—and "Relax" is one of the greatest examples in pop music history. 🔥🎹
