OT specialist in inclusive and accessible housing - research interest : impact of visual stimuli and aesthetic preference on lived experience in dementia
Hurrah - I am published at last :) Exploring how design can support the expression of personal aesthetic preferences in dementia https://t.co/rYjMGsszxw
I now strongly do believe some thing within
humanness. Within in the mind.
can snap and become unrepairable
Which is why some people with dementia just stop speaking. Due to the anxiety and depression of uncertainty caused my disempowerment and social work unaccountability
An essential point for me was this. I had to purse the joy in me in order to stay, functioning.
And I learned through pear support,
We all have something to contribute, we can still be
creative, we can continue to be engaged
When embracing the things which make us smile.

@marneywalker@OTKateSheehan@RunnallsJ Over the years the NEC have supported learning & development through conferences and workshops and contributed to policy across all 4 nations highlighting the importance of Housing on health and well-being, & of accessibility and Inclusive Design.
Thanks @HousingLIN@Abbeyfield_ENG - "The Regeneration of Outdated Sheltered Housing" - great read for all interested in housing, health & community: making housing work harder for our older generations, packed full of context, tips, recommendations & case studies @HLINConsult
This sentence is obscene. Why are we punishing the people trying to prevent disaster while allowing the oil company giants causing it to reap super profits?

At @FoundationsHIA , my colleague @MarkPearce1969 is developing a tool to collect solutions for behaviours of concern. Your input would be appreciated and for any UK-based OTs, this would make a great CPD activity for your HCPC portfolio https://t.co/GOOBs7ujHY
This #DementiaAwarenessWeek our theme is 'Your voice, your choice, your future". Every person with dementia is different, & so good care will look different for them. People need the power to make choices on what matters to them - now & in the future 👉 https://t.co/7pAW63zfZh
This⬇️claim is a lie or bananas
Since 80s, AD orgs have benefitted from rising dementia fear
Their "awareness raising" efforts have corresponded with dementia becoming the public's 2nd most feared condition (the leading fear among older people)
That's THE charity business model
