@3gpmh i'm still wondering what went through my mind in between hours of drifting in and out of sleep, that i assembled some art credits, added this note for a frame, and pinned this post. unfortunately, that sacred knowledge is now lost
@ThatsWill_@BenClaimed@Lightenerrthang not spoiling anything but his confrontation w a pastor in the second season will have you rethinking on what all he can do as an actor. real subdued intimidation, quite opposite to all the shouty parts he does in the show, which he manages to work just as well
@BenClaimed@Lightenerrthang tbf he switched between scruffy sadsack to the most intimidating person in a room multiple times over the course of a season, for five straight seasons on the americans
@reaptides they have to account for a world where most people have watched marie condo. i don't live in the states but no one i know has the kind of clutter from celine's apartment, most people have a really sparse decor nowadays
@Paulo1127885@glassmotif you're right. she starts out really passive that season, ig until the halfway point when she bets against ethical inv, she's just an afterthought. but w a show like industry, i still think it's valid for the writers to want smth like that, not stay closed off about a core group
@mushuunosik i have no horse in the "should monsters be in the backrooms" discourse, but the idea of familiar dread/disorientation of liminal spaces being hijacked by all this, is boring?
@Paulo1127885@glassmotif i don't follow awards convo, and u're right on the promotion. but the season did footnote exits for three returning characters, plus the sweetpea ep, and the whole sprawled out vibe of the season inc. but the show's still foregrounded by harper and yas, was she really sidelined?
@glassmotif the industry claim doesn't track. the show still is harper and yas. w maybe sweetpea and max minghella set up for more prominent roles. maybe promotional wise, marisa abela has a bafta from it, kit harrington is on variety's roundtable. but not writing wise. i'm looped out here
@emkenobi will prolly just be anna calvi or florence and the machine over the end credits, and not how it looks rn. haven't found a reason to care about these new movies so far, but this is not sillier than any of the other details that have been out so far
@ahvsls @saintdutchess the point was there's a way to engage w the performativeness inherent to and extended by satire, and mine was fairly standard and respectful to begin w. must've come across wrong somewhere that i don't want to look at anymore. i regret this convo just as much as you
@ahvsls @saintdutchess sorry but this is narcissistic. live in a country w 120 languages and see people get territorial and jingoistic over their own every few months, english has been the only functionally common thing. i used to love learning but asp this kind of performative rallying sucked that up
