I've had the pleasure of knowing and working with Dan for the first 3 seasons of Full Swing as well as The Creator Classic and (obviously) had been a fan of his before. There is nobody better suited to help us build the future that we envision at Pro Shop than Dan. He's an incredible and very well-sourced reporter; he gets YouTube and understand how to build a following; and he has an extremely high creative motor.
Dan will be on the ground covering the President's Cup this week and then we'll be in building mode for the Fall. I'm excited for what's to come and can't wait for you to see what we are cooking up at @skratch.
Hey guys. Today I’m super excited to start the next chapter of my life-long love affair with golf. I’ve joined Pro Shop Holdings as Editor-at-Large for the new Skratch. It’s a very fancy title…basically I’ll be doing a lot of what I’ve been doing as far as daily coverage of the professional game. I’ll also continue to make YouTube videos, including the series where I caddie for a tour pro for 9 holes while longform interviewing them. But this move also presents new opportunities and levels of access that will enhance my coverage significantly. I feel like I’m going back to my journalism roots a bit, only with way more tools in my toolkit. Pro Shop’s relationship with the PGA Tour will allow me to shoot content on-site, something I’ve never been allowed to do before. I’ll also have access to highlights and the content archive—so instead of just describing a shot in one of my videos, I’ll be able to show it to you guys. I really think with this new level of access we’ll be able to coooooooook. I want to cover golf in fresh and innovative ways, and I feel this is the perfect setup to do it. I’ll also be launching my own podcast and newsletter, likely in the new year.
I’m also pumped about the other aspects of Pro Shop that we’re developing. I’ve been wearing Sugarloaf Social Club for the past few weeks and am blown away by the quality and cut of the clothes. Just so, so good. Then there’s Pro Shop Studios, which put on the Creator Classic and is currently working on season 3 of Full Swing. We’re building something special and I can’t wait for you guys to come on the journey with us.
This is all very surreal to me—it’s truly a dream job, and the only reason I’m able to do this stuff is because of all of you. I’m fired up and ready to go.
