I am convinced the opposite is true: Ethiopia stands to gain enormous strategic, economic, and security benefits by recognising Somaliland, with zero security threat. What Mogadishu is doing to Ethiopia is far more damaging, as it increasingly aligns itself with Ethiopia’s rivals and provides them with a platform to advance their interests against Ethiopia.
The moment Ethiopia recognises Somaliland, it will strengthen ethiopia’s regional influence, project strategic power, and gain a reliable partner in the Horn of Africa; we must face reality: Somaliland’s people and government have prevented Al-Shabaab and piracy from establishing the safe havens they exploit elsewhere, demonstrating decades of resilience, effective local governance, and a sustained commitment to regional security that make Somaliland a strategic asset, not a security liability.
In anyway, the African forces cannot be expected to remain in Somalia indefinitely, we must look beyond the present security arrangements and plan for the eventuality of their withdrawal.
Ethiopia’s recognition of Somaliland would strengthen its security, accelerate economic growth, and enhance its capacity to project power and expand its strategic influence across the Horn of Africa and the wider Red Sea region.
So this is big. President Trump finally distinguishes between Somalia (failed state) and Somaliland (The Little Country that Can!) at a rally in Youngstown, Ohio. This will lead to US treating two nations separately at long last!

The ongoing war against the Somaliland is being fought on multiple fronts:
- Economic warfare ✅
- Media warfare ✅
- Security and internal stability warfare ✅
Economic warfare is one of the most long-standing and damaging forms, targeting Somalilands’ financial capabilities, economic independence, and livelihoods at different levels and across different sectors.
It remains one of the most serious and persistent challenges they face, weakening their ability to build wealth, achieve financial security, and develop a self-sustaining economy.
That why they fear any change
Ashley Cole on England’s World Cup semi-final elimination.
🗣️ “England have bottled it. There’s no sugar-coating this. You don’t spend years building one of the most talented squads in world football only to crumble the moment you’re asked to show courage. They gifted Argentina belief and paid the ultimate price.”
“They went into their shell after taking the lead. Instead of finishing the game, they started protecting it like a small nation hanging on against a giant. That mentality is embarrassing for a team with England’s quality. Champions kill games—they don’t hide from them.”
“The manager completely lost his nerve. His substitutions, his tactics, his message to the players—it all screamed fear. Sitting deeper and inviting Lionel Messi and Argentina onto you is football suicide. Everyone watching knew what was coming except the people on the England bench.”
“And the players deserve criticism too. Too many disappeared. Too many hid instead of demanding the ball. When Argentina raised the intensity, England folded like a pack of cards. You cannot call yourself world-class if you vanish when your country needs you most.”
“This wasn’t bad luck. This wasn’t the referee. This wasn’t fatigue. This was a complete collapse of mentality. England threw away a place in the World Cup final because they lacked the courage to keep playing football.”
“If you’re satisfied with reaching the semi-finals, then keep making the same mistakes. But if you genuinely want to become world champions, performances like this should haunt every single person in that dressing room. They didn’t lose to a better team—they lost to their own fear.”
Ku soo dhawoow Israel, Madaxweynaha Somaliland @Abdirahmanirro.
Booqashadan taariikhiga ah waxay astaan u tahay kartida weyn ee iskaashiga cusub ee u dhexeeya labadeenna dal.
I was delighted to receive the first-ever Ambassador of Somaliland to Israel, Mohamed Hagi, who presented his diplomatic credentials this morning.
Ambassador Hagi was kind enough to praise our orchestra, who played the national anthem of Somaliland for the first time ever in Israel.
This important new partnership
between our nations will bring a shared future of cooperation in a range of fields to the benefit of both our peoples and the entire region.
Those who saw the man carrying his elderly mother on his back at the Kaaba could not hold back their tears.
A son fulfilling his duty, a mother receiving the honor she deserves.
Jannah truly lies beneath the feet of mothers.

Was pleased to also be able to make points for Somaliland during my recent @AlJazeera interview on Sudan. Bottom line: SL is a capable, fully functioning nation with largest degree of democracy in region; and it's not going anywhere - like it or not!
