🏴 A 13-year-old orphaned girl told staff she felt unsafe, but her request to move was DENIED.
JK Rowling just offered to pay for her day in court.
The girl, the only female in the unit, was placed at St Mary's Kenmure in Glasgow alongside 11 boys aged 15-17, all older teenage offenders. She had committed no crime.
When she asked to move to an empty houseblock, the answer was "no."
The case was documented by the Council of Europe's committee for the prevention of torture after an inspection last year.
Rowling took to X: "Who does it hurt if we make every space mixed-sex? This is who it hurts: the most vulnerable, those without power and influence, the invisible people politicians don't bother to consider when chasing likes and photo ops."
She then posted a link to her women's fund and offered to cover legal costs for the girl or anyone acting on her behalf.
The world's most successful children’s author is helping kids with more than just great reading material.

People forget that Gov DeSantis beat this guy in 2018 by less than 0.5%.
He would’ve been our Governor during Covid, kept us locked down, and the country would’ve never been the same.
The reason he almost won was b/c deep blue Broward County kept “finding” votes weeks after the election.
The vote fraud was stopped, DeSantis cleaned up our elections, and he won by almost 20% in 2022.
It’s amazing what happens when election fraud is cleaned up.
This may get very ugly for @nytimes
A victim of sexual misconduct (at a minimum) by Graham Platner explains in detail how she provided the Times the evidence it could have used to corroborate her story - and how the Times ignored it
This is deep journalistic malfeasance
A man spent a year eating like Erling Haaland and the only side effect anyone could find was that it worked.
He filmed the lot. Organ meat. Raw milk from a glass the size of a boot. Six fried duck eggs before most people have found their slippers. Grass fed ribeye. The full Norwegian striker routine, run by an ordinary bloke for twelve months, and by the end he had dropped sixty pounds, walked away from the junk he used to live on, and felt better than he had in years.
Then the health desk arrived to explain why this was a tragedy.
The write up, in a major outlet this week, actually prefaced the warning with the words as a health editor, I have to tell you. You can hear the training kick in. The man had just described getting well, and the reflex fired anyway. Whole foods, it conceded, are better than ultra processed ones, especially meats. Good. Correct. And then, without drawing breath: the science does not support eating this way long term, because red meat is linked to heart disease and certain cancers.
That word linked is doing the heavy lifting, and it is the entire trick. It comes from the studies where they hand people a questionnaire, ask them to remember how much bacon they ate across a whole year, then follow them for a decade and tot up who falls ill. The heavy red meat eaters in those studies also, without fail, smoke more, drink more, move less and hoover up the whole ultra processed funfair around the meat. So the steak stands in the dock for crimes committed by the beer, the chips, the sofa and the forty a day.
Ask why the flinch is so violent and you find forty years of professional pride at stake. Careers, guidelines, food pyramids and entire charities were poured into the saturated fat theory. The same experts who marched a nation off butter and onto margarine cannot now watch a man thrive on a ribeye without reaching for the smelling salts.
The food that was quietly finishing him off never troubled a single one of them. The steak that pulled him out has a whole profession clutching its pearls.
@MariehelleneH I didn’t discuss it. I really don’t care about her, but I thought any American knows mocking is rude . But just like a parent, H should have had boundaries.
@EWErickson Omg we could talk your entire broadcast about ‘normal’ guys. And yes, I agree with you. Women think they want understanding over value in a relationship.
@rock_daiki YES!! I grew up before the Botox & fat eyebrows— women are ALL beautiful Stop buying boobs — you’ll thank me after 50!! Cuz all that crap fades & falls
For anyone wanting to give wealth to their children, it’s a pretty good offer. With some billionaires generously giving back.
This was the hope, yeah? Generational wealth being created and the very wealthy helping others.
@SamaHoole However, I’m bright white. I limit myself to an hour& no sunscreen. I live where it’s sunny most of the time … no other place for me 🏝️☀️👙🦎 sunscreen in makeup 👎🏼 sneaky.
Being a woman over 50 is realizing you spent your twenties trying to be chosen, your thirties trying to survive, your forties trying to recover—and your fifties finally asking yourself what you want.
Another little part of England is to be destroyed, as the government plans to put 1250 illegal migrants here, in the hamlet of Piddlington, grossly outnumbering its 400 residents.
