@UrsaFrank_ damn 😭 i come from a painting course so comics/manga in general is pretty frowned upon ... which i think is dumb. bc you can easily blend the two and will get great results regardless by combining the knowledge from two different worlds/techniques

at my exam today teacher said having a manga/anime style is cultural appropriation and it's just lamely parroting the original thing. i wasn't really offended (she was super chill abt it) but i was curious to know about what you guys think about this take?

@gerph_art i agree ! i dont think she meant harm by this and just expressed a (flawed) opinion, but if i were to apply that thought to other cultures, art as we see it today wouldn't exist ...

@Emps_rex i think the main issue with "therapy speak" is that when done it's applied to almost all charas which gives the uncanny feeling. you can have one or two charas that express themselves verbally like that but it feels wrong when everyone verbalizes their feelings the same way

@WhataFruit @autismnohomer @rskcorr this is EXACTLY how i felt about this. it's disappointing to me that someone who now has a trusting audience would crawl back to safety and comfort instead of shooting the shot and give light to new concepts and characters.

@hakeism sometimes i look back at my old drawings and like ... yes the anatomy was ass, the poses were at times I'm possible and composition not the best, but you can still tell how much fun i had with it and that alone gives them so much charisma
