ALL - STAR 3rd Team Selections

S - Marsi Syess (Rodriguez)
S - Carson Floyd (Whitney)

@CoachMylesKing, @MarsiSyess, @WhitneyFball,
Carson Floyd is a supreme athlete and plays all over the field, and maybe most prominently at QB for Whitney. However I think he is most certainly most effective as a safety which is why I placed him here. He has excellent hands and has 6 picks and 7 passes defensed. He is an able tackler and has a forced fumble too. I think safety allows him to make up ground and use his athleticism to attack the ball or take down defenders. He has the balance and strength to shed blocks and the smarts to take the right angles to tackles. I think if he focused on the safety position and left the QB duties to another player, he would attract more offers his way.

If I was looking at stats alone, Marsi Syess would be the best safety in the area. I do weigh opponents, divisions and strength of schedule though. Opponents be damned, Syess is an amazing strong safety and would be at any division in football. He has a nose for the ball and seems to be a part of every tackle, a reason for over 100 tackles for the season. In addition he is a sledgehammer hitter causing 3 fumbles and 13 tackles for loss. He is not just a hitter as he has 4 picks in coverage. Simply one of the best Safties in the section and a huge reason they remain undefeated.

[West Coast Preps Sacramento @WCPSacramento]

Rodriguez had not defeated Vanden in 14 years.

That streak is long gone, as the Mustangs won by 24 points and look to be the next force out of Solano County.
