For 5-11y bivalent booster Alberta is expected to start "in the New Year" meanwhile, Ottawa starts Wednesday. We don't always have to be last... @AHS_media@JasonCoppingAB
Why aren't people wearing masks?
A behavioural psychologist explains why Canadians still aren't willing to wear masks even when multiple viruses are causing children to be hospitalized at unprecedented rates ( https://t.co/jsnatTp7xS ). H/T: @_SunshinyDays 🧵1/
If anyone had any concerns with Trudeau’s Emergency Measures Act, eat your words now. Danielle Smith’s, “Sovereignty Act” amalgamates all power in the Premier’s Office, including directing police to break federal laws. It’s the most undemocratic act ever.

During the UCP leadership race, I had assumed (wrongly) that the Sovereignty Act was about asserting Alberta's sovereignty vis-à-vis federal government. It is actually granting massive new powers to the Premier/Cabinet vis-à-vis fed govt, AB legislature, and all Albertans.
Credit to @molszyns who claimed in the earliest days that the Sovereignty Act was not just about standing up to Ottawa, it was fundamentally an attack on the rule of law within Alberta. He was right!
Alberta has a huge fiscal surplus and yet we need to have trailers outside Children’s hospitals to deal with intake. That tells you everything you need to know about the UCP government
Someone in the Smith government has made this determination:
With children's hospitals so full they need to set up trailers outside emergency rooms, let's prevent schools from addressing the root of the problem.
This decision was made with all evidence in front of them.
I am a parent that received this communication from Administration at my child's school. Time for school districts in and around Edmonton to start leading on masks, not denying science and gaslighting families.
From the DM’s…
Sent to a parent - “Look, masks make it impossible to have REAL relationships, it simply can’t be done. Also, let’s avoid getting tagged as an outbreak School, it’s probably those religious holidays that are the problem anyways.”

Starting Nov 9, #UWaterloo will require masks for indoor activity that is part of academic instruction. This includes, but is not limited to, lectures, seminars, labs, tests, exams and all other forms of academic instruction wherever it happens indoors.

Continue to be stunned by how fast the COVID revisionism has taken root.
This happened:
- Over 45,000 Canadians died of COVID
- Hospitals were overwhelmed
- Healthcare workers (and Canadians) stepped up
- Vaccines & public health policies saved lives
Stop the COVID spin.
If I am to understand some of the current Alberta political rhetoric correctly Cons say the NDP would interfere in private business and in personal decisions around covid but then turn around and tell businesses and schools they can’t make decisions the government doesn’t like?
NEW: Judge rules Feb. order lifting Alberta school mask mandate "unreasonable" & made by politicians not CMOH, a breach of Public Health Act
+ LaGrange statement saying school boards prohibited fr make own mask rules caused "widespread misunderstanding"
https://t.co/UJVERd6xEp
Notably, and as @UbakaOgbogu and I have said many times, the Court finds that the authority to make public health orders rests with the CMOH, not cabinet. Because the masking decision came from cabinet and not her, it was unreasonable. /3
In other words, despite messaging to the contrary, schools were free to adopt public health measures such as masking that exceeded the government's rules. /6

Dear @ABDanielleSmith
- Vaccines saved millions of lives
- Therapeutics WERE studied (#ivermectin ineffective)
- Consensus (body of evid) is how science works
Pls, for AB, climb out of rabbit hole. Don't inform policies with lies, myths, & misinformation.

I am pleased to announce that I have tasked former ATB Chief Economist Todd Hirsch @theToddHirsch to provide advice on how an NDP government can stabilize the province’s finances and build a more resilient economy. #ableg#yyc#abfuture
