@dorkburger My issue is most neoclassical economists, including MMT or even advocates of UBI, they all advocate centralization. Of which I hate. I don't see entropy as a bad constant. Yes sometimes it reveals negative results but cause and effect is real.
@AndrewYangVFA A #FederalJobGaurantee#FJG would be far better than UBI and there are MANY reasons that is true. Do you understand how our monetary system ACTUALLY works? Fed Taxes DO NOT FUND SPENDING. The Federal Deficit is our economies SAVINGS.
@interfluidity@BrianJHartley@rohangrey@guan@dandolfa@TheStalwart why it's almost like this is the reason MMT has historically been critical of UBI :) :) :)
I will say re:policies to vaporize the financial value of the wealthy's assets (but not the biophysical assets themselves), they may not free up much resources in the short term 1/2
@J_MoAGoGo@sapiocrat1 The ubi can't I agree. Only the currency issuer can counter Balance the ups and downs of the business cycle, right now we automatic economic stabilizers, the superior way is to have a FEDERALLY GUARANTEED LIVING WAGE JOB PROGRAM
@AndrewYangVFA @FirethorneScott Not sure who’s advising you on economic policy, but you should consider Modern Monetary Theory (MMT) as the foundation for UBI policies and federal govt. spending. Would love to have a conversation on the topic if you’re interested.
@FratboyMarxist@votelavenia@DougHenwood /1/. MMT doesn’t advocate UBI, so I’m not sure why you keep mentioning them together. /2/. Doug is tweeting that MMT’s proposal for permanent ZIRP is bad for capitalism. Lol. Do you get the irony of this?
@marwilliamson UBI is a good idea.. demand creates jobs. Yet, how we define work and a jobs guarantee needs to be explored. Many advocates of #MMT such as Stephanie Kelton, Warren Mosler, Etc. Have addressed the pro's and cons of each and lean towards jobs guarantee.
@sapiocrat1@RoccomillionMMT The nature of busts is that they are endemic to any economy where decisions have to be made about an uncertain future. This has been known since Keynes. The UBI does nothing to attenuate that. You can't end the cycle.
