Knowing more than your customers does not make you an expert. What makes you an expert is understanding enough about your subject matter, to be aware of all the gaps in your own knowledge and how to fill them. Trick is this actually requires a lot of experience!

Unfortunately what customers think they want from an expert is someone who knows EVERYTHING. This does not exist. All they will get is someone who CLAIMS to know everything.
