...He was also in The Last Producer from earlier. Charles and Burt actually worked together more than 10 times. It turned out Charles was less than 20 yards from Burt's dad at Normandy...
Anyways, Big Trouble is a fun one, even if John Cassavetes himself hated it.
Big Trouble from 1986 has Alan Arkin caught up in an insurance scam. Him and Peter Falk had made The In-Laws before this, and that one's probably the better of the two, but this one's still a lot of fun. Charles Durning is in the supporting cast...
It's a shame Burt never really got to direct movies in the direct-to-DVD era where budgets were a little higher.
It's a shame he never got to direct more in general, but he always put it off (and also turned down huge roles) to help his friends make their movies instead.
Still ill and mostly staying in bed, but entertaining myself by watching TWO Burt Reynolds movies about making movies? And they both have the great Rod Steiger in supporting roles? Released almost back to back?
Burt even directed one of them...
The Hollywood Sign was sadly not directed by Burt, and he remains sans-mustache for most of the runtime... most.
It's about three washed up actors who stumble into a robbery plot.
It's a worse movie than the other but still watchable.
Steiger has waaay more to do, which is great.
