Police Annual Crime Report: @Tom_Magambo, thank you so much. Much of the crime is on the decline due to increased professionalism, team work with other directorates & relevant agencies, proactive policing, intelligence & good leadership. God will reward you for us. Asante sana @PoliceUg
The Uganda Police Force has sustainably implemented intelligence-led operations and investigations across the country. Special commendation goes to the Crime Intelligence Directorate for its outstanding intelligence work, and to the CID for diligently following through on suspects to ensure due process. These efforts have greatly strengthened proactive policing.

Heartfelt appreciation to AIGP @AigpDamulira , Director of Crime Intelligence, for his outstanding leadership and strategic contributions to the remarkable 10.2% decline in reported crime cases in 2025 (from 218,715 in 2024 to 196,405).
Your intelligence-driven operations, timely collation and dissemination of crime trends, and seamless coordination with field teams have been instrumental in preventing crime before it happens and ensuring more cases move efficiently through the justice system.
This progress reflects the impact of dedicated, professional intelligence work under your guidance. Thank you for helping create safer communities across Uganda.
Well done, Sir! 🇺🇬

With in a space of just one year, the 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 building has already been roofed. We thank the CIC H.E @KagutaMuseveni for the support and Director CID AIGP @Tom_Magambo for this development. It’s time to digitize @PoliceUg and shift from the manual system of operation
Comrade Natif. I agree with you absolutely that despite the great gains in fighting crime, there is more work to do, just like in any society. I’m optimistic that each of us, must add some brick on this country we call home. Siku Njema
Comrade @TonyNatif , calling the new 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 a "vanity project" or "real estate" misses the point entirely. AIGP @Tom_Magambo wasn't hired to build buildings, he was hired to transform a once-struggling @CID1_UG into an effective crime-fighting machine, and he's delivering. 👏👏
Under his watch:
- CID has turned from the "sick man of the police" (as former AIGP @AKasingye put it) into a beacon of efficiency, better case handling, collaboration with ODPP, and higher clearance rates in key areas.
- Domestic violence cases dropped by 4% in 2024 (from 14,681 to 14,073), showing progress in high-volume crimes.
- Digital forensics are now powering breakthroughs (e.g., strong evidence in recent high-profile cases like the Katanga case in which you were paid by the defense).
- Quarterly reviews and operations are yielding arrests and disrupting crime networks nationwide.
- The Centre itself (groundbreaking in 2025, progressing steadily) is Uganda's first modern Crime Data Analysis hub not an office block, but a command center for real-time pattern detection, predictive policing, cyber/data crime tools, and faster investigations to cut remand backlogs and target gangs proactively.
We celebrate this because modern crime (cyber fraud, organized gangs, digital evidence tampering) requires modern tools not just manpower. Without data analytics, forensics upgrades, and intelligence hubs, we'd stay stuck in manual, slow probes that fuel the "endless investigations" and high remand stats you rightly criticize.
Therefore, this isn't a flashy real estate; it's an infrastructure that will directly fight crime in Uganda. Do better by recognizing progress where it exists. Thank you 🙏🏿
Katwe Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the theft of motor vehicle number plates in the area.
Following the arrests, officers recovered several stolen number plates. Affected owners who had reported the thefts are now happily reclaiming their property at the station.
This operation is part of ongoing efforts by the @PoliceUg to crack down on vehicle-related crimes in Kampala. Members of the public are encouraged to report any suspicious activities involving number plates or vehicles immediately.
Thank you to the officers at Katwe Police for this swift and successful recovery! 🚔✅
We sincerely thank the 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 and the 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 of the Uganda Police Force for the excellent collaboration that led to the successful arrest of these four suspects in Nansana.
Your joint efforts have brought relief to many residents who have been terrorized by criminals targeting bank clients around Hotels and other banking points.
We also commend the 𝐂𝐈𝐃 for the thorough investigation and professional work done before these cases are taken to court.
Keep up the great work in protecting our people and making our communities safer. The public stands with you! @AigpDamulira @Mwesigwa_Frank1@Tom_Magambo
