Never forget that in 1982 some 4th grader busted his ass to get 100% on his spelling test just to receive a sticker that smelled like a fucking pickle.
Teachers are told to differentiate for every student. Expecting one teacher to meet 30+ unique needs every day in every class is unrealistic. Support, resources, and reasonable expectations matter just as much as differentiation. Only to then judge them on standardized test!
Education isn’t broken because of teachers. It’s broken because we ask teachers to be counselors, social workers, parents, and miracle workers—while still demanding perfect test scores. Fix the system, not the people holding it together.
Teachers can spend every second of the day being productive and still feel like they are not doing enough.
We need more realistic expectations or more prep time. Preferably both.
