Today @uniofbrighton has announced its intention to make more than 100 redundancies saving £17.9m. But our SMT have just SPENT a similar amount buying Virgin Active out of a lease.
We will fight this failure of management.
RT to support our fight!

Multiple Whitehawk parents have been in touch to report their anger after receiving a letter from the dep head @LonghillSchool
The letter suggests @BrightonHoveBus thinks a small cohort of children are attempting to defraud them by not paying the fare to travel to school.
*Sigh* @DivideClass campaigning for nearly 2 years to try and get free school travel for all kids in the poorest part of #Brighton and Hove. There is no local secondary and kids can't walk or cycle to school. Told 'there's no money' @BHGreens@bhlabour@BHGreenCllrs
@IanPhilipsITS I wonder if it’s possible to encourage emulation, trust and credibility so that people can lead change towards low-carbon travel in their communities?
Just submitted my PhD thesis 🥳:
"The power of leading by example with high-impact low-carbon behaviour: emulation, trust, credibility, justice"
Thanks to everyone who has provided inspiration, insight, opinions, and energy - not least on this site 🙏
With PhD applications due soon, thousands of young people are currently beginning their statements of purpose with the same cliché story, or the same anodyne statement
Stop right now!
Here are 10 thoughts for doing this right. Helps you, and helps admissions committees.👇
My dad grew up in Whitehawk, I grew up in Whitehawk. I work in Whitehawk @crewclub and @DivideClass. The place is amazing but the reality is stark. Keeping people poor is an act of violence. #Brighton is not a fair city. The UK is deeply unequal.

Today is #WorldHomelessDay - our steering group of people with experience of homelessness have lots of ideas on how you can make a difference. We'd love you to say hello! Being acknowledged makes a huge difference. https://t.co/Sesxd0GR98 @uniofbrighton@BrightonHoveCC
According to @crisis_uk, 282,000 single people, couples and families were judged as homeless or threatened with homelessness by local authorities in England in 2020/21. Rough sleeping is just the tip of the iceberg. #WorldHomelessDay https://t.co/FpYcLxVrcK @justlifeuk
Brilliant work here from @cardmedic and @UHSussex So many crucial moments on people's healthcare journeys when attending to communication needs could transform health outcomes especially for people experiencing #inequalities
In 2021 we gathered feedback on people’s experiences of #HomelessHealthcare for our co-production project, #CommonAmbition. We developed a collaborative analysis approach, standing shoulder to shoulder with the person relating their experience. https://t.co/UeJWlBTg82
Spent an amazing day @crewclub funday. What a wonderful team and what brilliant kids to spend the day with. Keith Turner and his East Brighton Community Science project put on a fantastic pop-up planetarium and @EBFoodcoop a delish bbq. Spirit of @causewayed70 lives on 💪👍
@stevec009 @archhealthcic@uniofbrighton The 2018 mapping research and survey are cited as evidence of grassroots activism and concern in the city; not street homelessness levels. Our lived experience group have carried out their own 2022 mapping of B&H services and accommodation to specify what needs to change and why.
