@LeeBraganza It’s difficult (as a parent)to understand the breadth of approaches to transition.
Mine did 2 1/2 days in July, staggered start on day 1 then full days. No home visits.
I had 2 ‘easy’ Septembers whilst colleagues very much struggled.Whose kids found it easier, I’ll never know🤷🏼‍♀️

@ianwhite21 I visited Michaela. Was impressed inspire of it not fitting with my own vision of edu. Would love a border curric there but can’t argue they get great results and saw nothing untoward.

@katielockett I hear you! What I was trying to say was 3 year olds don’t require *that much* effort if you keep it simple but obvs outsource if you fancy (and if you can convince your husband 🤣)

@katielockett Decs = few balloons. Food = individual boxes with sandwich, raisins, yogurt pouch, veggie straws. Fruit/cucumber platter to circulate if you fancy.
Last party I did, I put sandwich type (of choice of 3) on rsvp (less waste and therefore contingency sandwich making effort).

@katielockett I went to a kids’ party recently in a scout hut with tables set up with different crafts/activities (play doh/stickers/colouring etc) which the kids played freely with for 30-40 mins, then 20-30mins of pass the parcel, musical statues etc, party food/cake then home time 😊

@cwritesstuff @WellPaidGeek @MisplacedNPC @Helen_Barnard Could reflect that 5-1 0 years ago as a middle earner, their buying power was X. Now, earning more, they’d’ve expected their buying power to be a multiple of X.
However, due to inflation/COL, they’ve merely maintained lifestyle.
Obvs faring better than most but can see the issue

@NicolaMurrayUK @TTRadioOfficial Secondary couldn’t do this during A-Level/GCSE exam windows but otherwise could work.
Would have to be implemented carefully at boundaries as could cause more disruption than benefits if siblings and/or parent teachers and their children accidentally had different weeks off.

@Katy_primary97 Has anyone mentioned getting a network for f2f contact?
I love wfh but arranging a few walks with friends who also wfh/are on mat leave/their days off really helps with prioritising social (usually lunch) breaks and some fresh air during the working week!

@blondebonce I think the frequency of interactions each day (even each minute!) and the juggle of priorities are really exhausting even if you enjoy it.

@FlexTeachTalent Not quite f/t but I used to be onsite 4 days and get paid 0.9 (as had that % of full contact time). So had 0.5 day PPA/management time per week which I could do whenever/at home.
My deputy head of fac covered any operational stuff the day I wasn’t in the building.

@NooPuddles I’ve recently been told about magnesium… apparently it helps stress responses therefore you have better quality sleep. I’ve not tried but a few colleagues (of similar age w/young kids) were raving about it.

@katielockett @abbyaug They’re only 4 & 5 now but one of my children thrives off calm and I think he’d be more inclined to like silent corridors etc… the other would thrive at the school I last taught at where there was plenty of cheerful interactions between students/staff between lessons.

@katielockett @abbyaug Do you think your decision would be impacted by your child’s character/preferences later on?
Just reflecting that if I were fortunate to have a choice in my area,I’d look to find the right school for each of my children & the choice to go for SLANT or not would depend on them.

@sammilighthead I mainly preferred the Greenshaw learning trust resources for this type of cover when compared to Oak.

Would also recommend photocopies of conti books as can provide sentence builder and associated worksheets so all supported and don’t need computers.

@Headteacherchat I wasn’t head but identify with the exhaustive contemplation. I’ve left for around 18m. Has been a much welcome change (still in edu) & that’s as good as a rest, as they say.
I decided I could always go back… & that’s still true but without the mental drain of ‘what if’.
