Cam Newton is seemingly backing Aaron Rodgers after the former NFL quarterback made his own stunning allegation about what was happening inside the league during the COVID era.

Newton claimed “multiple” NFL players, coaches and executives fraudulently got their COVID shots during the pandemic and faked vaccine cards, when the league imposed strict protocols.

Unvaccinated players faced daily testing, were forced to wear masks inside team facilities, and keep distancing rules, while coaches were required to get vaccinated to keep working.

“If we’re being honest,” Newton said on his podcast, “there were multiple players, coaches, and executives that fraudulently got their COVID shot.”

His bombshell comments come just days after Rodgers suggested more broadly that “a lot of people” probably had fake vaccine cards at the time — joking that some he saw looked like they were “written in crayon.”

First full preseason slate kicks off tomorrow. Some things I’m watching for that could impact best ball:

* Seth McGowan - McGowan is a 7th-round rookie so he’s going to play but with DJ Giddens (hamstring) sidelined, could be a case where preseason performance actually matters in separating as Indy’s RB2

* Colbie Young - Impossible to read through Cincy’s beat without seeing his name everywhere. We know Burrow and Co. are going to make a brief appearance, does Young get any reps with the 1s?

* Marshawn Lloyd - LaFleur is going to play the starters (averaged 10.2 snaps per Week 1 preseason game last 3 years). Chris Brooks (hamstring), Josh Jacobs (groin) sidelined, Lloyd might take all the snaps with the 1s and exit with them

* Christian Watson/Matthew Golden/Jayden Reed - What does the Packers’ WR rotation look like when the 1s are on the field, will we even see heavy personnel with Kraft/Musgrave sidelined?

* Charlie Kolar/Oronde Gadsden/David Njoku - Harbaugh has a group of ~15 vets/starters that won’t play in preseason Week 1, does that include anyone from this group?

* Malik Benson - Raiders are going to play starters, does Benson get any snaps with that group? Dont’e Thornton has missed four straight practices

* Tyler Allgeier/Jeremiyah Love - Cardinals starters are going to play “one drive, max of two”. What does the RB split look like for Allgeier/Love with the 1s?
