The thought of an Alzheimers-stricken Gene Hackman wandering around his giant house alone for nearly a week while his beloved wife was lying dead on the floor is almost unbearably sad. We collectively need to do a better job preparing for the realities of aging and mortality.
No, because I think more children have ‘suffered’ as a result of having unprepared parents or financially struggling parents than they have from having ‘old’ parents.
yeah breakups hurt, but have you ever been a super talkative, enthusiastic person but slowly over the years and after trauma you watch yourself become more quieter and quieter to the point where that enthusiastic bubbly person just isn't who you are anymore?
Nobody grew up with intentions of being a cleaner, shelf packer, cashier, security guard, taxi driver, car cleaner or store general worker. We all had big dreams but life happened. Respect people's jobs
@suburbancontra1 I would try to avoid Asheville if you can. There’s no power or gas and flight cancellations are expected.
I’ve heard I26N or I40E are open if you have to do that but it changes a lot with the conditions so you could get stuck.
I just made it out of Asheville. There is no power, water, cell service, or sewage.
Most of downtown is in decent condition, but Biltmore Ave is underwater. River Arts, Carrier, and French Broad River Parks are essentially gone. Chimney Rock too. #asheville#ncwx
@elizabethbkelly I40 E, there was a mudslide near the Black Mountain at exit 64 and they allowed one lane of traffic through around 1 pm.
I’m not sure if it’s still open or not. That’s the only way out of Asheville that I’m aware of. #asheville#ncwx
@mattwilson84@romeoNblkjeans@asheville I have not heard anything on Woodfin specifically, but I know it’s just bad all over Asheville and the surrounding area. No power, water, sewage, internet, or cell service.
Most likely out of all of those things until Tuesday or Wednesday

The pics below are not the best, but it’s Carrier Park from the exit and River Arts from the bridge
