Some Charlotte-area kids had big nights in a big NCAA D3 game Wednesday: Averett (VA) upset national No. 2 Randolph Macon 62-60. Averett’s Mason Mitchell (Rock Hill Northwestern) had 16 points and 11 rebounds, his first collegiate double-double.

Former Butler star Tyler Showalter had 7 points and 2 rebounds for Randolph-Macon (11-1) and former Ardrey Kell star Delani Hammond had 11 points, 3 assists and 2 rebounds
