@davepl1968 Never could get the Ford automatic chokes to work right in the Canadian winter. Had an improvised cable run right up under the dash on my '84 Grand Marquis.
@waynehale@konstructivizm@Arcturus227 Would love to see one of your deep dives on this. Your blog is brilliant, I've learned so much about the shuttle program from it.
@Micheal_Stirton@EmpAurelius@wealthmoose OK Boomer.
Notice where it says the fuel filter is integrated with the fuel pump, sending unit and pressure regulator? And that you have to drop the tank to change it? Pretty common on anything built this century.
@Micheal_Stirton@EmpAurelius@wealthmoose As an added bonus, fuel has a different viscosity from water. If you run it through a 2900PSI direct injection system, you can blow the injector tip while cranking.
@Micheal_Stirton@EmpAurelius@wealthmoose From your link -
2. Corrosion
Water is corrosive. When it sits in the tank or fuel lines, it can cause rust and corrosion, damaging components like the fuel pump, injectors, and the tank itself. This can lead to expensive repairs and replacements.
@SpaceAgeHerr To add insult to injury, pipe thread is also a pain to work with. ORB is so much easier to set up angled fittings.
Don't get me started on hydraulic hose fittings - having SAE (45°) and JIC (37°) is bad enough - but wait this hose is ORFS!
