@VisidiumTH@BigfryTV How? They need to slowly test their servers and the infrastructure, as well as get the last stage of feedback on the game itself. If it was a marketing stunt, they'd have offered it as a pre-order bonus or something.
@TheCocaVerse@BigfryTV@Ron_insights Because footage from now, can be misleading during launch. The game probably won't have the same bugs, issues and optimisation as it probably does now, but if people are just able to post whatever now, it might muddy the water.
@AaronVictoria10@BigfryTV@Ron_insights Sustainable due to the deal they had Square Enix. Square Enix gave them a lump sum up front during development to get it to release, and then all game sales went straight to Square Enix, and after that Bulkhead got maybe 30% of each game sale after SQE's and Steams cuts.
@AaronVictoria10@BigfryTV@Ron_insights They had a competitive scene, they kept updating it every few months, until 2019 when they kind of re-released with FACEIT integration, new maps and layouts, but it still had teething issues so it didn't take off. They slowly stopped updating it after that due to it not being
@datBorn@BigfryTV What was the second game that they abandoned? They supported their first large scale release for three years, but it wasn't sustainable when they only got like a third of each game sale after the cut Steam and Square Enix took, as well as getting none of the first X game sales.
@mozocs2@hawtdiggedydog@Brammflakes No, they were just getting gauged by Square Enix for each game sale. After Steams cut, SQs cut, tax, there was so little left. If you were getting £4 from each game sale, you probably wouldn't bother continuing to work on the game.
@RestTarRr@DimitriVallette Yes, they did. That's why from the outside looking in, it just looked like the Dota community is super entitled and that Valve can't win whatever they do.
@DimitriVallette@AintnowayBMJ The broadcast maybe? I feel that is worth something for sure. I'd pay to be able to watch my favourite esports, even if it was just getting access to the 1080p steam, VOD's and maybe some behind the scenes stuff.
@RestTarRr@DimitriVallette Nah, it's because everyone complained about how stuff was locked behind the TI pass, so Valve did put less there, and then less people bought it, leading to a smaller prize pot for TI. The community probably (teams and TO's mainly imo) also could've looked more long term.
@Xemnas655878@MonteCristo He's not involved in CS super heavily, why would he actively talk about it? Both Thorin and Richard though did tell people from day one how stupid it is holding events in Rio considering the lack of safety guides from ESL for the major in 2022.
@jaylay12088001@TheTopMostDog@BigfryTV And in reality, it's quite arcady. Don't know what to tell you. The only hardcore thing is that it can be one shot to kill someone, but there's plenty of weapons and situations where it's 3+. There's limited recoil, you can run indefinitely.
@jaylay12088001@TheTopMostDog@BigfryTV Insurgency plays like an arcady shooter, it's not really hardcore. You can sprint infinitely, there's limited recoil on weapons, the only "hardcore" thing is the low TTK.
Hey all. Bit of a sad post but this is the reality of life sometimes.
My old boss who gave me my first job in the games industry working in physical retail at GAME has Leukaemia. He fought it off last year but recently found out it's back in his central nervous system and has spread to his brain.
He has a wife and kid and financially it's a struggle despite NHS. Any support at all would be incredible as he is a genuinely nice bloke & gamer whos just been hit with bad rng.

@Battalion44W@Brammflakes@exphrasis I think the difference is that I can understand context. They had a dream of a game they wanted to make, and asked for money for it. They never said it was ready or that it would kill CS or CoD, but it resonated with a lot of people and had server issues for a few days on launch.
