The search for "the one" is unrealistic.
There is no magic person out there.
Love is a practice. It takes intentional effort from both people.
Every person has toxic traits, flaws, and annoying habits.
We need to mourn the idea of a perfect person.
Most people don’t understand relationships take emotional work. They believe the right person will remove discomfort from their life and make them feel good. When they don't, they're resentful. They start looking for the next fantasy person for the role.
being in a healthy relationship taught me that there’s no such thing as “this is who I am, take it or leave it”. when you genuinely love a person, you work on those toxic traits, u learn to communicate, u listen to each other’s feelings and encourage individuality.
Nobody is perfect in a healthy relationship — what makes it “healthy” is each individuals willingness to grow, forgive, communicate and express needs and respect the other. You evolve individually and as a couple.
Dear God,
Please Protect This Relationship. Let Time Build Us Not Break Us. Let The Love We Have For Each Other Be Stronger Than Anything That Tries To Tear Us Apart. We May Not Be Perfect But Keep Us Perfect For Each Other.
Amen.
You have expectations in a relationship.
Tell them what they are.
Y’all are too old to play games like
“I shouldn’t have to tell you! If I’m important then you should know.”
Relationships break down for one reason, communication failure.
Want something? Fking tell them.
