Today is World Animal Day. We love our animals, and we won't stop fighting for them.
They aren't lab equipment, and they aren't disposable. We've made protecting them a priority during our time in Congress:
โ The PUPPS Act ends the breeding of dogs for research and shuts down the pipeline supplying them to taxpayer-funded labs.
โ Violet's Law, passed in the House-passed Farm Bill, requires federal labs to offer retirement and adoption to animals instead of euthanasia once research ends.
โ The PAAW Act prohibits the National Institutes of Health from conducting or funding research causing the most severe levels of pain or distress to dogs and cats.
Man's best friend belongs in a loving home, not a lab. We'll keep fighting to protect the voiceless.
Today marks the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks, a day that forever changed America.
The nation remembers the 2,977 people who lost their lives and honors the first responders, survivors, and families whose lives were forever impacted.
