OK, so the Y6/7 transition packs were soooooo popular, that I was thinking of asking the unbelievable content design team @SparxMaths to create a booklet/course to support for y11/12 transition (i.e. getting ready for AS). If a good idea, RT this to sigal "yes please I want one"
@jcrowthermaths @SEMathsHub@SRWAcademy Their main point was they had discussed a a dept and decided the definition they would use, so they are consistent across classes and years. @masterfosse have I got that right?
@EmathsUK Hi Mark, I'm just messaging to say that you would be very welcome to visit The Sir Robert Woodard Academy on Monday 7th June. We are in Lancing which is very close to Brighton.
@Just_Maths@MathsTeacherKYP @ThainMike My concern is the grade boundaries on past papers. I want to find a school/schools whose grades haven’t changed over the last 5 years. It would be really useful to see the raw scores pupils are getting on papers at the end of May.
@runningstitch@MrMattock@ProfSmudge@SEMathsHub The lesson did follow the point you’re making Peter. I can see how the pupils work can be construed as not being precise. So I’ll attemp to give some background to it. The pupils were drawing conclusions from previous examples and the board was shown for further discussion.
@mrshawthorne7 If the topic is algebra then I often use a joke I once heard. If I received a pound for every time someone said "when will I ever need algebra?" Then i'd have n pounds.
@meteachmaths@Just_Maths @EmporiumMaths Thanks. I’m always worried about using the November boundaries as they’re not derived from a whole year 11 cohort. However, they do seem to fit the grades we expect the pupils to be at.
