@RugbyInsideLine Would like to see M Smith given another run at 9. He looks more comfortable there than 15. Would really like to see him at 10 but not under SB.
@Mr_Andrew_Fox Good article - the absence of strategy is a critical flaw. But this goes back to Mackinder and Mahan, and we can't afford a continental strategy. As a maritime nation we should focus on the Atlantic/Northern flank and leave central Europe to continental allies.
@SamaHoole Glad this had a happy ending. But is there not an issue that Border Collies need working? Otis herded the ewes from instinct. Not sure why the owner would think to allow their border collie near sheep off the lead without expecting this.
@pegge49 Rather sobering to think how Dart/Wolf would have performed against salvos of AS-4s and SS-N-22s. Good job we realised this and replaced them with Sea Viper so quickly...
@nicholadrummond More P8s and E7s should be i n your top 10 if not top 5. Would also put 6 SSKs in your top 10. Unfortunately, funding constraints means focusing on the maritime theatre in all 3 domains.
@FennellJW Suggest upping availability of SSN fleet but matching SSN numbers with SSKs. We need to focus on sea denial in N Atlantic. Can't afford sea control.
@DrHelenFry I've always wondered about the environmental cost of the Battle of the Atlantic. Were there massive oil slicks coming ashore or did it all burn off in the water?
@dcsandbrook@UniofOxford@WilliamJHague Huge congratulations. I'm sure Roy and Joe are extremely proud of their protege. Sapiens qui... etc. Keep up the great work.
@AC_NavalHistory So would the ships' companies to go with them. The problem isn't just platforms, it's people too. And both need a lot more money that isn't promised until 2030.
@RUSI_org The question is entirely whether the British public (in its myriad forms) will rise to the occasion. Some elements will, but they will be the outliers. The country isn't willing to make financial sacrifices for defence, let alone commit their young people.
@RAF_Luton This is why Frodo was so pleased to see the F15 Eagles... it was they who destroyed the eye of Sauron. Amazing that Peter Jackson filmed it all from a Canberra!
@TomSharpe134 And we finally had an AD system capable of taking it 30 years later... Good job we bought the full complement of 12 T45s to deal with multiple threats.
@gregbagwell Once the carriers have become operational the world has moved on. They could be valuable assets but only with adequate protection and the capabilities you mention. But we can't afford them and CASD. 100% agree on the Falklands - no 1982, no more carriers. Great posts, thanks.
