I'm loving the stories from readers who are beginning the journey to professional #flourishment already.

Hardly seems possible that one year ago we had @mathgeek76 at @StocktonUnified. Thanks for getting our series of amazing speakers started. A few more days until @Sean_Nank and @DrIndiaMath
Cra z how fast time can fly by when you’re having FUN w/ @BTCthinks
Huge thanks to @mathgeek76 and all our GHS & DMS teachers this week. My fav launch this week was the paper airplane stat lesson for MA6. Uber engagement by students! @LISDSecMath@lisdcurriculum@pgliljedahl
Day 1 of 3 in the books with @mathgeek76 and the great @TomGlennHS math teachers. Alg and Geom @BTCthinks lessons around similar figures and simplifying expressions w/exponents. The students worked HARD! #tiredbrains@LISDSecMath
@schelperkw@MakeMathMoments glad you were there! i was a bit erratic given my cold and lack of sleep. but i was also pretty fired up! so tired of the stupid things we do that erode teacher flourishment.
Hey BTC Community! It's time to submit your proposals to present at the #BuildingThinkingClassrooms Conference!
We want YOU to share the incredible work you are doing!
Submit and share at https://t.co/C8bUx8nu8o.

Elementary math teachers at the #1LISD Continuous Improvement Conference enjoy learning about Building Thinking Classrooms with and from the great @mathgeek76! #MathRocks 🙌🏼
@MandyMathEd@Sneffleupagus I’m deeply concerned that our current culture of professionalism (standardization, top-down, treating kids like their test scores that need to be raised, working alone in the silos of our classroom, PD that is disconnected from our reality) makes this job not worth the effort.
"It's a hierarchical blame game." @mathgeek76
I was just having this conversation with @kdykema yesterday. We need MORE vertical alignment conversations, MORE learning from our colleagues who teach different grade bands. More awareness that we're one stepping stone on the path.

If linear functions are just first degree polynomials, then why is the standard form for lines different from standard forms for higher degree polynomials?
Why do we care about Ax + By = C? And why are we spending hours and hours of math class teaching it?
Asking for a friend.
@BradBMath all interesting cases. i’m in the camp of “what math is going to be useful for our future world?” and this is all cool/groovy stuff, but i’m struggling to see the value other than “it’s on the state test”… maybe after this lesson study cycle, i’ll feel
different.
@mathemactivist Textbooks and state/national standards refer to “general form” or “standard form”
for polynomials. And also for linear functions. Any reason why they are different?
And how do we explain to disgruntled 9th Alg1 students why they should learn this topic?
ChatGpt offered this nugget.
In short, we care about the standard form Ax + By = C because it’s a simple, powerful, and flexible way to represent linear relationships in both abstract math and real-world applications.
I’m not buying it. Come
at me #mtbos#iteachmath. Tell me.
