@SmugFecundity @iDoLikeSpam That’s because math should be taught for conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, & application. Most math is taught procedurally, which is usually a gimmick or trick to get a numerical answer. It’s difficult to apply math without conceptual understanding behind it.

@ddmeyer @Desmos As a math coach in my district, I’ve found many teachers saying it’s cheating to show how to use the calculator for the test. But if the calc is provided, then the question is testing the conceptual understanding, not the procedure. Plus, using tools is a math practice standard.
