#News Fast Fact: Ilhan Omar had an affair with Tim Mynett while he was still married to his then-wife, Dr. Beth Mynett, according to court filings in the Mynetts’ divorce.

🔴In late August 2019, Beth Mynett filed for divorce in DC Superior Court.

🔴She said that the couple separated on or about April 7, 2019, after Tim told her he was

“romantically involved with and in love with another woman, Ilhan Omar.”

🔴She described a “shocking declaration of love,” said he moved out the next day, and said that he had recently been lying about travel and long work hours and had really been spending the time with Omar.

🔴She also said he took their teenage son to dinner with Omar.

Tim denied parts of her account.

He said he did not tell her he was leaving the marriage for Omar or that he was in love with her.

He specifically said that he “had not engaged in any physical or s*xual relationship with any other woman during their marriage.”

He attributed the split to other issues and accused his wife of trying to damage his career.

Omar denied the affair allegations at the time and said she was not separated or dating anyone.

➡️She filed for divorce from Ahmed Hirsi in October 2019 (six months after Tim separated from his wife). It was finalized on November 5, 2019.

➡️The Mynett's’ divorce was finalized in December 2019. (two months after Omar filed for divorce)

➡️At the brief hearing, Beth tried to say that Tim had acknowledged an extramarital romantic relationship with Omar that led to the divorce; but the judge cut her off.

➡️Omar and Tim Mynett married on March 11, 2020 (three months after Mynetts’
divorce and four months after Omar's divorce).

Omar later said the personal relationship started “long after” their professional work together started in July 2018.
