have always wanted to submit a conference session called “𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘈𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴.” Because in math education, the impact never comes from the routine, activity, or the resource itself, it comes from the thinking behind it. https://t.co/PZQAWDz0jp
Collaboration in our classrooms shapes who talks, whose ideas are taken up, and the depth of understanding that emerges. I just posted part two of my adaptation series focused on structuring small group work: https://t.co/MvJgs8RIMB
Adapting lessons is probably one of my favorite problem solving activities as a teacher. I love the design challenge of ensuring the adaptations support students in accessing and meaningfully engaging with that math while addressing the learning goal. https://t.co/N6kSiVDird
If my years watching (and rewatching) Glee! taught me anything it is that I can't resist a good mashup! 🎶
So when @jennalaib shared her latest Slow Reveal Graph, I had to combine two of my favorite math activity structures. #mtbos https://t.co/gw3GXQB7dn
@jennalaib + The whole group discussion often goes way beyond what is on their papers as they bounce ideas around, but now each kid has a starting point in the discussion!
@jennalaib first vs starting with the whole group and having other students share those ideas before I call on them. I find they become more invested in the collective ideas when their idea is one of the recorded ones.
The first deck in Addition and Subtraction by Heart II focuses on adding within 20 and uses 10 frames as the visual representation. For the first few times students see a card, they can move around the counters. Learn more at https://t.co/dP6YfQENRD
I created this immersive math task for our math play date last week.
You can download it at https://t.co/XRTzVi3xYu. Enjoy!

Deck 6, the final deck of Addition and Subtraction by Heart 1, uses number bars to provide the most abstract representation of subtracting within 10. Try for yourself and learn more about the free fluency practice resource at https://t.co/dP6YfQENRD
