I think this is why the art market differs from everything else, in some ways at least. 

Earlier today I was browsing Erik’s Fields and stopped at #502 for the 50th time.

I’ve loved this piece since I first saw it.

There’s something within me that just makes me want this thing so much, and I’m realising only now that it’s this exact feeling that let’s me sleep easy about the future of NFT art.

I don’t feel this too often, but it’s powerful when it happens. I can’t really explain why owning this thing will make my life better, but I _really_ want it all the same.

It’s this feeling that makes people do crazy things, like pay money for a jpeg. It’s less about the market or getting a good deal when this feeling hits, and more about just securing something you know will feel very special to you, and that will maybe become a part of your identity in some strange way.

I’m guessing almost all Ape holders would sell at double fair market price, but I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t part with some of my Möbius works, some of my Fields (and a fair few others) for 10x the floor. 

Listening to a pfp pod earlier today made me realise how different the art market is to the pfp market. As soon as this feeling continues to exist for people, art ain’t going anywhere.

As it happens, it seems as though Fields #502 might be out of reach for now. Maybe one day.
