الجهة الفعلية المنفذة: أكدت الحكومة الصومالية أن الشرطة البحرية في إقليم بونتلاند الصومالي هي الجهة الرسمية التي نفذت عملية التحرير والاشتباك مع القراصنة الصوماليين وان عدد من ذوي المختطفين رافقو القوة التي هاجمت القراصنة من ٤ جهات، بمتابعة

وقّعت الصومال وقطر اتفاقية لإنشاء جامعة الصومال للتكنولوجيا، التي ستُعنى بدراسة التكنولوجيا والهندسة والطيران والطاقة وعلوم البحار.

وتدعم جامعة الصومال للتكنولوجيا في قطر الصومال في تطوير المناهج الدراسية، وتدريب المعلمين، والإثراء التعليمي، ومنح الشهادات لتنمية مهارات الشباب 🇸🇴

“For the first time in Africa”?

First of all, the video is not of Somalia’s Gorgor forces, and these are not Somali troops.

Second, Somalia once fielded one of the strongest militaries on the continent. The Somali armed forces also supported and trained African liberation movements fighting colonial and apartheid rule. So this is neither the first time nor something entirely new to Somalia.

Yes, Somalia is entering a new phase, but that comes after decades of resistance, including confronting a global superpower in the streets of Mogadishu and bringing down its helicopters. In other words, we did not simply arrive at this point because of someone else, we fought our way here ourselves.

Portraying Somalia or Africa as though there were no history or military capability before Turkey arrived is a narrative that overstates the reality and downplays Somalia’s history.

The rebuilding of Somalia’s national security institutions accelerated after the establishment of the internationally recognized Federal Government in 2012.

Since then, numerous countries and international partners have contributed to rebuilding, training and strengthening Somalia’s land, air and naval forces:

Why is there so much international interest in rebuilding Somalia’s security institutions?

A Somalia capable of securing its land, airspace and territorial waters would strengthen security across a strategically important part of the region. It would also help secure major international shipping routes along Somalia’s extensive coastline, while creating a safer environment for investment and the development of the country’s natural resources.

The rebuilding of the Somali Armed Forces has therefore been a multinational effort, with different partners contributing to training, equipment, institutional development and specialized military capabilities.
