To be clear: Her Honour specifically addressed the public criticism of the cross examinations at the beginning of her judgment and found that they were all entirely appropriate.
New from me: a court has released video of what a judge called a “deeply disturbing” arrest by Edmonton police.
It shows an officer kicking a man who peacefully surrendered in the head.
Media had to fight to make the video public.

Hard for me not to wonder whether this is retributive, given that Boyle and Bissell were two of the three social agencies whose leaders provided affidavits in opposition to the City’s/EPS’ mass encampment closure plans in December.
Calling into question the legitimatacy of the Courts by mischaracterizing the proper functioning of the legal system as "judicial overreach" is dangerous rhetoric. There are three branches of government for a reason. If you disagree with the decision Mr. Premier, file an appeal.

Still shaking after hearing this. Janice was a titan. A generous colleague and a mentor who you absolutely hated to get scooped by. She broke so many stories & fought to make sure our institutions are transparent. A huge loss for her family and this city. https://t.co/zj9VYD9zsO
@shandro Is this a properly functioning Justice system? Your actions, or lack thereof, will lead to substantial delay in this case and many others. The system cannot function without you properly funding both sides of the aisle.
From child custody to criminal cases, Albertans continue to suffer due to the provincial government's decade-long underfunded Legal Aid program.
Join us in sending a message to @shandro that Albertans deserve equal access to justice! Sign the petition:
