Update on the Evan Stewart situation — Let’s pump the brakes on the screenshots going around.
Here's what's real as of this morning. Stewart was booked into the Springfield jail around 7 AM Sunday on a DUII charge and released about an hour later to Dakorien Moore. That's now confirmed by the jail itself, KATU, the Daily Emerald, and Reuters is carrying it. Oregon athletics says they're "gathering information." That's the confirmed part. One player, one charge.
Now the screenshots. You've probably seen them — the text messages claiming street racing, six-plus players, felonies, warrants, all of it. I looked into it: Springfield police told The Oregonian those rumors are "unfounded." Their word, not mine.
What actually happened: there WAS a separate police pursuit that night. The drivers were never identified. Police contacted several Oregon players because they were in the area — not because they were suspects — and none of them are facing charges. That pursuit is unrelated to Stewart's arrest, and police aren't even pursuing that case anymore.
And Dakorien Moore? He wasn't arrested. He was the guy who showed up to bring his teammate home. His name is in this story because he did Stewart a solid, not because he did anything wrong.
One more piece of context, because it matters: this isn't the first DUII in that building this year. Running backs coach Ra'Shaad Samples was charged with DUII and reckless driving back in April, and his next court date is October 27.
So here's where I'm at. One Duck made a serious mistake and got charged for it — that's real, and the discipline question from this morning still stands. But the felony talk, the warrant talk, the "six other Ducks" talk — that's a game of telephone the actual police department just shot down.
Don’t rely on screen shots on social media for your info, I'll update this as real information comes out.

I’ll give you a valid argument.
You are an influencer. You are promoting an addiction that 1 in 5 people commit suicide from. You promote it like it’s something that can get ppl out of the rough financial straits everyone is finding themselves in because the global economy is fucked. Routing them to a gambling site that is skewing the odds in your favor so that it brings more foot traffic is dishonest and irresponsible as the Average Joe is gonna be spinning slots till they’re in financial ruin.
I get he’s trying to provide for his family, but trying to act like you can talk down on people for coming out with reasonable concerns about promoting gambling and AI usage is hypocritical. Using your family as THE reason to keep doing the shit that obviously the majority isn’t in favor in is scummy as shit no matter how you word or phrase it.
