@mattyglesias The markets are betting the disruption is going to be temporary, but if we still in the same situation by the end of August then prices will go through the roof.
I've so far avoided dramatics because I would be accused of bias. To be clear: this is the worst energy crisis of our lifetimes, well beyond what any sober mind could have envisioned, with no end in sight. The level of complacency to me is astounding.
Ukraine destroyed one of Russia’s largest weapons depots.
A drone swarm struck the depot in Toropets in the Tver region, 480 km from the frontlines.
The explosion destroyed hundreds of S-300, S-400, Iskander & North Korean ballistic missiles, causing a 2.8 magnitude earthquake
Today we’re reliant on France for our electricity, a country with a recent history of threatening to cut us off over petty fishing disputes.
UK energy policy is a failure of statecraft.
Nuclear, lots, 100% publicly funded, no judicial reviews or nimby crap.
Just get it done.
@idahosun1989@Agent_Hodgo@RealCynicalFox@VivekGRamaswamy I don't know about that tbh, if Trump wins the nomination Vivek is odds on to get the running mate / VP role. If he gets VP he will be odds on for the GOP nomination in 28.
@Bannedforself@SpeakSamuel@RealCynicalFox@VivekGRamaswamy Why should they be looking to give their only leverage away in a hurry? Especially when the US is becoming increasingly isolationist. If they can't rely on the US then they need to look after their own interests first of all, just like Vivek and Trump want to do.
@RealCynicalFox@VivekGRamaswamy A good way to drive all Americas allies away. People will look to China if the US becomes disinterested and isolationist.
