Apparently it’s 50 years since the first episode of The Daemons was broadcast. Doctor Who’s contribution to the 1970s folk horror cycle.
I don’t think I’ve mentioned this, but...

@docoho I think restored rather than rewritten. When the Doc breaks the TV screen with his regeneration energy, and we're shown that we've been watching an alt-, Poppy-less reality for the season - Belinda's Tegan-esque desire to get home suddenly makes sense.
@docoho@BarbaraYetaxa Yeah - I'm with Joe (God help me). I thought it was fun AND profound. Most of the criticism I've seen is based on a misreading of the story and a misunderstanding of its focus.
@David_Kitchen_@theDWshow Wrestling with ideas and having thoughts but not reaching conclusions is exactly why I appreciated TSATE. An amazing episode that made me feel the same as I do watching old Japanese fantasy movies - knowing there's a coherent mythology that's alien to me and loving it.
Once you accept the consensus that the TARDIS isn’t a machine but a living organism that has a complex engagement with time and a deep connection with the Doctor - it makes complete sense - and even adds to the charm of the relationship between occupant and vehicle.
I’ll advised dip back into Twitter for this. The explanation is that the TARDIS isn’t broken - it chooses to stay in the shape as it associates it with the Doc. The Police Box shape is the TARDIS reminding the occupant who they are throughout time.
@David_Kitchen_@strangerscast@Lost_Gallifrey I didn’t mind the ending! I’m still wondering, given the number of them and the nature of the central character, if the missed opportunities were missed on purpose to frustrate.

Of course. Though Johnson was chosen by 25,351 Uxbridge and South Ruislip residents, Truss by 81,326 Tory Party members (mostly middle-aged men called Geoff in the Home Counties), Sunak by no one because there wasn't a vote. Trump was elected by 73,477,849 Americans.
@David_Kitchen_@Lost_Gallifrey@theDWshow Watch the special edition when you do get it. The extra scenes smooth over the awkward jumps and the digital set extensions make the ambitious intentions of the original designer clearer.
@Lost_Gallifrey@David_Kitchen_ I’ve been sold on it. When I watched it at the BFI it all clicked into place for me. The idea that something so weird and subversive and tonally inventive went out before Miss Marple in the slot that’s now Eastenders says a great deal about how progressive the BBC could be.
@David_Kitchen_ I always took it to be Glitz trying to make himself sound smarter and on a noble quest - and Mel seeing through his bluff? It's character building?
Not only the gorgeous story of how @DevonDan03 came to read Doctor Who books but a triumphant and surprising top and bottom ten list, and he ranks the ranges too.
