@postoctobrist I feel like I’ve mostly heard “have you been..?” here in the US because it’s sounds more familiar to my ear, but I also can’t remember the last time I was asked so take that with a grain of salt.
@thetrillbillies I just listened to the recent episode about the New Testament and if you haven't ready Michael Moorcock's "Behold the Man" you might really like it. The opening paragraph basically spoils the ending, but the way it unfolds is pretty incredible.
@SamSacks Why would you ever take the “yes” on a bet like this? If it happens you’re either off to heaven or the events of Revelation happens, in which case I doubt anyone is paying out. Even if you believe it will happen it makes no sense to take that position financially.
@guywhoiswoke@postoctobrist Also, 80 books per year is remarkably low if you follow his rules of writing for 4 hours every morning and reading all afternoon. I read more than that last year and I have a 9-5 job.
@SSDERANGEMENTSS I didn’t realize I was a month behind, but the first two “old people” names Jacques came up with are the names of Courage the Cowardly Dog’s owners.
@Popular_Current@JasonKirk_fyi The carve out is the top 5 conference champions. It’s not a G5 carve out. They just happened to be 2 of the top 5 conference champs.
@Popular_Current@JasonKirk_fyi You know G5 is the same division as P4/3/whatever, right? Nobody’s arguing for FCS teams in the FBS playoff. And there are some crazy blowouts in the first rounds of the FCS playoff every year and nobody is arguing that half of those teams don’t deserve to be there.
@Rebelfanmatt@slmandel@38Godfrey Not sure who you think you’re talking to, but as a fan of a school that has won a championship, I would have put up with almost anything to get that first one. Just because the admins are butthurt that the scorpion stung them doesn’t mean the fans wouldn’t accept the championship
@fleshsimulator@bazinganuts We’re starting to teach my 4 year old to sound words out right now and she does that guessing thing. I guess in school they just encourage that when they get to that point.
My older two are excelling in public school, but we taught them to read at home.
