@muckypawdotca @alisatweetsmore @Metrolinx@GOExpansion@SmallsCreek@BradMBradford@TOtrees@TRCA_HQ The fact that marsh marigolds are still here despite all this disturbance is incredible. I hope they can survive the dewatering and the increased sunlight conditions in Smalls Creek. Also, the watercress is still foraged. I saw people last year harvesting it.

@GOExpansion@SmallsCreek@Metrolinx Sorry - It was entirely possible to mitigate this level of destruction. Missing: the WILL and a champion @metrolinx with vision, tenacity, determination, integrated design, collaboration with the right experts at the table. This is not rocket science. No moving parts @smallscreek
@GOExpansion@SmallsCreek@Metrolinx Seriously. You expect me to believe this? I saw your engineering review. It was an exercise focused on justifying your solution, and not a genuine investigation focused on finding new solutions. In addition, your engineering review report only came out a week ahead of clearcut.
@mattcanaran@muckypawdotca@SmallsCreek@Metrolinx@BirgitSiber @beyrima @MitchPRobertson @alisatweetsmore As with me! I learned about their efforts & the Mx project through @BradMBradford’s Instagram post. The more I learned, the more I became very concerned as an educator, professional, community member, #nature advocate, & mother who visited the wetland w/ 3 kids over 2 decades!
@MichaelLeoM@RM_Transit@StephenWickens1@SwanBoatSteve Then by extending that logic, wouldn't we also apply 40tph to the Yonge Line ? That would further add to the disparity between the TTC's existing subways and the @OntarioLine. I'm just trying to get at the fact that OL capacity is well below the existing TTC subway capacity.
OK, so @RM_Transit@StephenWickens1@MichaelLeoM@SwanBoatSteve, yeah it looks like Metrolinx is only planning for a capacity of 20,400ppl for the Ontario Line opening day (80m trains, 34tph). Anything more will come later, and will require an additional investment.
@Metrolinx OK, but those costs aren't considered yet then ? That would be a future investment for another generation? @Metrolinx are the station boxes being built for 5 or 6 car trains? TTC subways r 139m long + wider than is scoped out for the OL @RM_Transit@StephenWickens1@MichaelLeoM
@MichaelLeoM@RM_Transit@Metrolinx Guys, @Metrolinx revised these numbers down in the Ontario Line PDBC. Did I miss something, did they revise them back up again? They're planning on 80m (4 car trains) with a 600p capacity, and 34tph. That makes peak capacity 20,400ppl/h @StephenWickens1
@RM_Transit@mattcanaran@Metrolinx Yes, OL is assuming 100m x 3.0m, while Expo Line is regarded 68m x 2.65m (though Skytrain bought new trains, but still not the Ontario Line size),
Yes - these transit projects must have longevity. We can't be taking 100 years to build something that has a 60 year lifespan. I'm worried about the @OntarioLine specifically.
@mattcanaran@Metrolinx@SmallsCreek Environmental concerns aside, we also need a commitment that Metrolinx is going to ensure the LSE parts of @GOExpansion will be managed intelligently from a long-term transit perspective. Evidence is lacking. Let's not give future generations major reasons to hate this one.
@Metrolinx, you clearcut a ravine and took parkland away from the community. You promised @SmallsCreek a seat at the table, but we've yet to receive an invite. We're ready to collaborate. Are you? @SheilaBoudreau@BirgitSiber @beyrima @MitchPRobertson @alisatweetsmore

A chilling view of the Small's Creek Ravine post-clearcut.
Thanks to Alli Neuhauser of Bombus Haus, @mattcanaran and Chris Terry for all the video work!
Time for our seat at the table @GOExpansion. The wetland can't wait.
@BradMBradford@TOtrees@TRCA_HQ
@RM_Transit Where are your capacity numbers from for the Ontario Line btw? Cause last time I checked, OL capacity was more similar to the SkyTrain capacity than it was to the TTC subway. I’m worried about @Metrolinx under building these station boxes preventing us from getting longer trains.
