If I could give only 1 piece of advice to a parent of a small child playing with a small ball it would be, discourage kicking and encourage protecting the ball by pulling it back with both soles of the feet. Most touches should be controlling the ball with the sole whenever possible. Just this movement for a child trying to control an object with their feet, the ball, is teaching them focused attention, and in doing so, leads to release of great growth factors that have specific and wide ranging effects, according to Harvard Medical School Associate Professor, Dr. John Ratey, MD. He goes on to say, by focusing, the brain loves to have movement and learning together!

Improve Focus; Developing the ability to focus on the ball and surroundings, stopping starting, changing direction, using both feet-bilateral and switching, fosters growth in the executive function area of the brain.🧠⚽️
