@merryh Yeah, although I found paracetamol actually worked quite well after the first few days. You can get a rapid fizzy version that isn’t cheap that I found easier to take and got me drinking more liquids. Can’t think of anything else - though I wish you a very speedy recovery 🙂

@merryh Of course 🙂 I wish I had known all this then. I did mostly soft stuff for at least the first week. Bread (not toasted) was pretty great when I was ready for it, but that wasn’t really until that 9-10 day mark

@merryh You can make a pretty good fake pizza with cottage cheese and some sun dried tomatoes

@merryh I was in pain for about 9-10 days. Swallowing was the hard part, but constant pain dropped off way earlier. Drinking water helped so much, and I wish I did more the first few days. I can totally understand being scared.

@merryh the hospitals here were great, and I was lucky to have my partner take care of me. It certainly wasn’t fun, but after the fact I barely remember it, and I’m so glad I got the surgery. You’ll get though it 🙂

@Ninfa_dp This is such a hard question! I miss my friends from the states (and the UK) dearly, and the first few years here were really tough. However, every day I find myself happier I moved to Melbourne. And I’ve made some pretty great friends here too 🙂
