This distills my product management experience so well, the important ebb and flow between problem and solution space. Having these really close together creates better products, faster.
just posted the next in the series on common confusions about product discovery - this time on the distinction between problem space and solution space - and the implications of this mindset: https://t.co/Ryn3rAHPUV
@lomaxx @richwebscale Yep. You cannot indefinitely wrap people in bubble wrap to save people from themselves or people from each other. Impossible. Trying to do that creates nanny states (or worse) with no personal liberties OR responsibility; because big government decided what is best for all. Yikes
@cagan @astr0mnaut IMO until you have experienced the 3 types of teams mentioned here it's very hard to empathise. As such the original assertion sounds "nice" because you are viewing it from 1, maybe 2 of the types of teams/situations.
@DrScottWatkins@andrewbirt Picture a set of scales:
- Put Covid deaths/impacts on 1 side
- Put implications of lockdowns etc. on the other side
The question becomes, which way do the scales tip?
That to me is what government is elected to do. Make hard/realistic actions based on the long term picture.
@DrScottWatkins@andrewbirt I just saw this.
IMO "cases" is not a good measure. I don't know what is but IMO until we agree cases aren't a good measure we won't discuss what is.
The reality of the cure being worse than the disease is ringing more and more true. Population level health decisions are... hard.
@DrScottWatkins@andrewbirt Even with contact tracing (manual or big brother style) my concern is "low" isn't defined and communicated. Plus, no articulated plan for every time we get above "low". Is it lockdown? We need to discuss this. Population level actions with clear anchor points is not a steady ship
TIL: @Telstra will truncate your My Account password on creation (only use the first 16 chars) only to not do the same when you try to log in. Use a password manager that saved an 18 char password?
Cue confusion and frustration.
Another client has implemented a Messenger button on their contact us page. Few weeks in and Messenger is ~30% of their contact center volume already, significantly displacing email. Will increase even further once they launch Messenger Chat.
My experience going from BigCo to Startup:
There is a coffee spill on the floor.
Startup: get on hands and knees, clean the mess
MidCo: hire a janitor
BigCo: assemble committee to prepare a plan to interview and hire an ISO-certified janitorial firm
This is metaphorical.
