Introducing Jog. CI is the bottleneck for shipping code at agent speed. But it shouldn’t be.
@njaremko and I were spending up to $50,000 per month on CI when building our last product. I was running three macbooks as mini GH runners to save costs. Recently a friend was hit with a $20,000 Blacksmith bill.
Anyway, we decided to fix the problem and crush costs down as far as we could in a managed offering on really fast, dedicated hardware. We think it’s pretty neat and we’re saving people a boat load already.
Have fun, ship more and worry about costs a lot less.

The value of unit testing was always low if you were writing in a strongly typed language. Integration testing, in particular when you used mocks and injection, was always questionable too.
I think it's entirely possible we wind up in a place where the only test suite you actually must build is the black box testing suite, and adversarial review takes care of the rest.
I wanted to share an update on Nobie.
On August 28th, we made the difficult decision to shut down the company after almost three years.
First off, thank you to everyone who supported us. To our team, investors, and everyone who tried Nobie, shared it, or built on it: we couldn’t have gotten this far without you.
Late last year, we bet everything on rebuilding Excel from the ground up for AI, remaking it for machines as first-class citizens. We launched the initial version publicly on July 13th (post below). Seeing people use something we’d spent so long building, and start building on it themselves, meant a lot.
I’m proud of the team we assembled. Thomas Walker, Dan Cecile, Nathan Jaremko - I was so lucky to work alongside you, and constantly in awe of what we built. We took on Excel, and we got really close.
If you’re using Nobie now, you can keep using it. Congrats on securing a little gem of spreadsheet history.
Thanks again.
Today we’re giving you the first real choice in where to run your .xlsx files. We’re also announcing our pre-seed funding, led by Afore and joined by many prominent AI founders who share that conviction.
Excel is one of the greatest tools I’ve ever used. I grew up on it. I was forged by it. It is one of the great inventions of humankind.
But for forty years, the world’s most important file has had only one trusted way to run it: Microsoft Excel. Today, there are two.
Introducing Nobie. It will soon reach 100% feature parity with Excel. We’re building it for the 1 billion humans using Excel today and the 10 billion agents that will work with spreadsheets tomorrow.
Nobie is now in beta, available as a native Mac app and as a CLI on macOS and Linux. It’s free, and everything you can do in Excel will always be free in Nobie.
Nobie isn’t done. But the product you’re looking at today is a glimpse into the near future: what you and your friends are going to reach for when working with spreadsheets.
We are dedicated to a singular purpose: delete every reason you still need Excel. Before long, it will seem absurd that Excel was ever all we had.
Claude Code and Codex are built right into Nobie. Or bring your favorite agent, like Antigravity or Pi. Robots of all kinds are welcome.
So if you’re a human on a Mac or an agent on Linux, try it out and let us know what you think. We think you’ll soon make Nobie the default app for .xlsx.
Enjoy!
hundreds of you asked for it, so we're going to ship it.
Jog Personal will be available tomorrow. This is special to me bc I love personal projects, and after my last company, I spent a bunch of time hacking on personal projects (and fearing CI costs).
This means that you can save a boat load on CI without a GH org.
