@TheStalwart Therapy is good and works. But working through problems is hard and people don’t want to be told that they need to change, so the affirmation therapists have lower churn and end up dominating the marketplace with “yes, you’re right” advice.
Exact same logic applies to AI?
@boostar83@NateSilver538 MM brackets are amazing because the seed carries enough info to level the field between the superfan and the guy who doesn’t watch all year. You know that Michigan is great because you watched 20 games? Cool, Susy from accounting gets the seed and knows it too. Brings everyone in
@AlexGodofsky Imagining a YA series where each district biennially elects newborns with life tenure and raises them from the cradle to oppose new housing or some shit.
@SwannMarcus89 The Reagan thing I think is mostly a confusion of his role as governor (where there is real culpability on this issue) and as president (where there isn’t much).
But it was a pretty consensus position, so hard to point the finger at any one person too much.
@janecoaston Make sure we instill early on that there are favored in-groups and disfavored out-groups and the out-groups know their place.
Same as it ever was.
@AlanMCole This is a generalizable thing, though. SmallCo is owed by local feudal lord/lady, BigCo is fractionally owned by everyone. But the politics just will never come around on that.
@SamMonsonNFL If you squint, you can see a store brand Davante. Adams has otherworldly release and Lane’s is not good, which is a big deal, but there’s a lot of stuff to like.
@drjohnm If a treatment cut the incidence of a rare condition from 1% to 0.7%, would you actually, seriously, expect the y axis on a chart like this to go to 100%?
What on earth gave you that idea?
@JohnKolb2@JeffreyASachs Who put the camera in his face? Perez is the one who closed the distance and got in the face of the cameraman!
Perez knew this. He immediately reached for the slanderous lie about being touched because he knew he had fucked up and was desperate for a justification.
@randallsquared@kb_french@kpomerleau I’m not promising that your ex ante estimate of “g” is going to be perfect. But it’s estimable, and the fact that unforeseen increases are generally attributable to similarly unforeseen windfall gains in the value of the underlying means there’s a natural hedge.
@kb_french@kpomerleau Pmt/(i-g)
Go ahead and have your property “fully paid off” by inoculating yourself against the future stream of tax obligations with a lump sum today.
@robbysoave@MattWalshBlog If there was a Mike Kelly incident and he threw in a gratuitous “the Irish are notorious drunkards” in his tweet, we’d just point out that he’s awful and we don’t need to entertain the rest.
@robbysoave@MattWalshBlog In the very post that this guy ponders whether it’s a hoax he throws in the same sort of racist vitriol that drives it. You don’t have to do this equivocating.
You can just call Walsh a piece of shit. Have some dignity.
